About Me:
Former technology Coordinator/Staff Developer for five years for the Program for Pregnant Students which closed all four if its schools as part of the District 79 reorganization this past June. Prior to that I was Computer Coordinator for Career Education Center for five years subsequent to running learning centers in two different homeless shelters for them. I'm currently assigned as an ATR to the High School for Computers and Technology where I cover classes and maintain and update their website. I also created and continually update an educational web directory at: http://hsctbronx.org/internet/start.html?rn=7453
With a friend and former colleague of mine, I'm also in the process of developing a non-profit organization devoted to parenting and teaching. Many of the problems with kids doing poorly in school can be traced to a poor beginning at home. We feel that in order to improve educational outcomes, not only do the schools have to enter completely into the 21st century and change the way they teach along with their educational priorities, but we need to educate parents as to better ways to raise their kids particularly since parents are a child's first teachers.
We would be delighted with input from this community!!! See our website at : http://parentingplus.net/ It is in the beginning stages of development and should be extensively expanded, hopefully along with contributions from a wide variety of experts, over the coming year.
On a more personal level, I'm recently separated from my husband of many years and am looking forward to all the wonderful things ahead of me. I am also the proud mother of two daughters, both of whom are college students.
