B&H? Is there a contact number or website? Also do they have the NEC bulbs?

You can purchase Lenovo Screens from Fran Koeing at Wachington Computers. We used them to replace any cracked screens we had..not so bad to swap them either. Contact: fran@washcomp.com

Using software money, we purchase Nettrekker.com and United Streaming. Last year we purchased replacement bulb and toner.

We also purchased some useful books and other instructional tools.

For the iteach/ilearn MAC school. If you call the help desk 718-935-5100 they will replace the keyboard on the the ibook G4s'. Just give them the tag information.

For the Iteach/Ilearn program, we need to accumulate a number of online tools. However, FAMIS does not list many subscribtions to online sites.

http://www.fundingfactory.com - Recycle ink, toner, batteries, and cellphones for credits toward buying stuff from their catalog. Mitsubishi projector bulbs are available through them!!

I have a few questions:

1)What type of fundraisers can we do to support technology. As our school budgets dry up, I'm wondering what anyone had done (in the form of fundraisers) to support technology.

2) My principal is interested in buying the XO laptop (One laptop per child) and I noticed that it isn't on FAMIS. Has anyone bought any? If so how?

3) Any way of replacing cracked screens for the iBook? MacBook? I saw someone is replacing their screens with Lenovo, but I'm guessing that is for the IBM Thinkpad.

1. We have seen schools do everything from bake sales to plays/performances to raise money for technology. We have seen PTA groups do their own fundraisers as well throughout the city. Sometimes people do those 50-50 raffles where half the money goes to the winning ticket and the other half goes to technology purchases. That is just a quick few examples of fundraisers - we've seen lots and lots of creative ones over the years. The most successful I've seen have been done in conjunction with the PTA so the school and the parents are actively involved

2. You should also check out the other 'netbooks' out there for low-cost alternatives - Dell, HP, ASUS, all make them - i think Dell's are available in FAMIS. Be sure you are prepared to support the OS on the given machines - the Dell's and other typically come with XP or with Ubuntu.

Does anyone know how to find projectors on FAMIS that can be purchased using NYSTL hardware funds? I could not find the item. Anyone have recommendations?

We have the NEC NP400 on NYSTL - 700182608 - $836.34
The description hasn't been updated yet, but here are the specs and some features of this model.

- 2600 ANSI lumens

- Built-in closed captioning enables decoding and display of text information from a video

- Virtual Remote (DDC/CI) over the VGA cable to control the projector directly from a computer without the need for additional control cables (very cool way to control your projector on the SMART Board)

- Integrated RJ45 connection for quick connection to the LAN

- Extended lamp life with ECO ModeTM technology increases lamp life of up to 4000 hours, while lowering power consumption

- Dual computer inputs, including DVI-I, ensure quick switching between presentations

- Automatic keystone correction technology instantly projects a square image even when the projector is set up at a steep offset angle to the screen

In Advanced search, type in tequipment or NEC. Also, if you have the funds, Smart Technologies makes the Generation 2 Smart Board that has a projector attached to it (from the top). Most projectors I found, using NEC as the search show they are not NYSTYL approved. Try Staples also.
