As I understand it, a flat classroom has no boundaries. In this sense, educators today can move their students beyond the 4-walls of the classroom by tapping into all the collaborative and engaging tools made possible through the read-write-web. A classroom can become a global experience in which students have the opportunity to communicate and collaborate with students from all across the world. Imagine the potential for engagement if a Global Studies teacher hosts a Skype session with a class in Pakistan comparing their government to ours. I have a feeling the students would be far more prepared for that conversation than they would a scantron test on the same topic.
