I teach 3rd grade students in St. Petersburg, FL. I am taking an online course about the internet in instruction at UF this summer and I am just in the process of learning about Web 2.0 and all that is available. I am very excited about the possibilities of blogs, wikis, podcasts, etc. in the classroom. I am hoping to learn a lot from the members here!

Hi All,
I teach at a small rural prep to year 12 school in Victoria, Australia. I have started a department-funded research project using social networking with middle years maths and science students. I read with interest percieved benefits, concerns about safety and useful platforms. If anyone is interested in an on-line science fair with Year 7/8 (13-15 year olds) please contact me. My blogs are at http://brittgow.globalteacher.org.au and I contribute to a class blog at http://techno7.globalstudent.org.au
I'm Michael Dodes - Library Media Specialist for Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx and part of the NYC DOE.
I'm an avid user of web 2.0 technology on my own and am very adept at as I tell my students "picking the right tool for the job" as my position centers around the use of resources and teaching students to use research methods to select the right resources and then organize them.
I have put a lot of effort into trying to teach myself the "educational" applications including reading related literature and participating at Edtechtalk.com and the New York City Writing Project (NYCWP). My biggest barriers at the moment are the following (at least what I'm trying to learn)
Student security when using social networking
Assessment of the effectiveness of web 2.0 in the classroom
Integration of 2.0 tools into the curriculum
Hoping to work with you all to figure out what works in these brave and exciting times!
Hi Kristi,
I teach fourth grade math and English in New Orleans, LA (actually in a suburban school). I started learning about Web 2.0 when I attended NECC in San Antonio last summer. I spend a lot of free time learning how to use these tools.
Do you use Skye? Maybe our classes could chat with each other.
